Vote on NC commissions bill reveals divisions

RALEIGH (AP) House Republicans who want to clean out several key North Carolina regulatory commissions have revealed disagreements with Senate GOP counterparts and among members in their own caucus about how to do it.
The House Commerce Committee voted Wednesday for their version a government reorganization bill that started in the Senate.
The House version would essentially fire members of the Coastal Resources Commission, Wildlife Resources Commission, Industrial Commission and other panels and let new Gov. Pat McCrory and legislative leaders make new choices. It leaves out a Senate provision that would have eliminated 12 Special Superior Court judgeships this summer.
A handful of House Republican committee members voted against the bill.
Democrats have called the legislation a power grab by Republicans.
