LEXINGTON (AP) — A Davidson County commissioner accused of driving a pontoon boat while impaired on High Rock Lake and other charges has been found not guilty.
The Dispatch of Lexington reported Judge Mark Galloway found commissioner Todd Yates not guilty of the DWI charge, along with refusal to allow inspection and driving a motorboat in a no-wake zone. The judge also dismissed a charge of resisting an officer.
Galloway said he found no evidence Yates was impaired. He also said there were conflicting testimonies regarding the inspection of the boat, and the boat was not fast enough to kick up any wake
Galloway came from another court district to hear the case at the request of Davidson County’s chief judge.
Yates says he’s relieved the case is behind him.
