The N.C. Department of Transportation will close Stone Road between Rainey Road and Pop Basinger Road in Rowan County to replace a pipe under the road. Weather permitting, the work will begin Monday, Aug. 5, and is expected to be complete on Thursday, Aug. 8.

To detour around the work zone, motorists may take Coley Road to South Main Street/Old Route 80 to U.S. 52 to Stone Road. Another option is to take Rainey Road to Faith Road to Crescent Road to Pop Basinger Road to Stone Road.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
