CHARLOTTE (AP) — Work crews with the N.C. Department of Transportation are continuing their efforts to repairs roads and structures in the Charlotte area that were damaged by recent heavy rains.

A statement from the department says contractors have been brought in to speed up the repairs.

One project is slated to begin this week in Mecklenburg County, while a second starts next month and a third is holding while crews wait on asphalt to pave the road so it can be reopened.

In Cabarrus County, work on one road is complete, while two more hope to be finished by the end of the week. Another project looks to be done in August.

Of four projects in Stanly County, two are about to begin repairs and two more hope to finish this week.
