St. Luke Baptist
St. Luke Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road, will celebrate homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday.
St. Luke’s very own the Rev. Arthur L. Heggins will be the morning speaker. The Rev. Ricky Johnson, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church will be the homecoming speaker at 3 p.m.
The revivalist for the week will be the Rev. Dr. James Hunt, pastor of New Birth Worship Center. Revival will be held at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

New Bethel Baptist
MOCKSVILLE — New Bethel Baptist Church, U.S. 601 South, will observe pastor William Cowan’s 10th anniversary Sunday.
The Rev. Paul Jones, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church in Salisbury, will be the guest speaker during the 3 p.m. service. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.
CHINA GROVE — Victory Baptist Church, 111 Ross St., will celebrate its seventh anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The first service was in June 2006, and the church was organized that July, meeting on Centerview Street.
In 2009 the present building was purchased. The church had been an Episcopal church, and in the 50s it was made into duplex apartments. When Victory Baptist purchased the property, the men of the church took out the inside walls and renovated the building. The first service at this location was held in November, 2010.
Stacey Harrison, daughter of evangelist David Harrison, will present special music. The Rev. David Ballinger, a missionary, will bring the morning message.
St. Matthews Baptist
ROCKWELL — St. Matthews Baptist Church will observe homecoming Sunday.
The 11 a.m. speaker is St. Matthew’s own the Rev. John Geter.
Dinner will be served at 1:30 p.m.
The guest speaker for the afternoon service, which starts at 3 p.m., will be the Rev. John W. Cade, pastor of Files Chapel Baptist Church of Lexington.
Revival services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The speaker for these three nights will be the Rev. Rodney Coleman of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Cooleemee.
Mount Zion Missionary
Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury will celebrate Family Sunday at the Worship and Ministry Center at 1920 Shirley Ave. on Sunday.
The celebration begins with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m.
The guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Nilous M. Avery Sr. of Raleigh, pastor emeritus of the Hill Street Baptist Church in Asheville, where he retired in 2002 after serving as pastor for 51 years.
Avery is father of Mount Zion Pastor Dr. Nilous M. Avery II.
Avery Sr. has survived several life-threatening illnesses, including one in December 2012 when he was informed his condition was terminal with less than a month of life. He not only survived, but has returned to preach selective engagements, including Family Day at Mount Zion.
He has received numerous citations, awards, honorary degrees and served local, state, and national organizations, boards and commissions, including a statewide civil service commission appointment by former Gov. James B. Hunt.

Star Day Program
CLEVELAND — Moore’s Chapel AME Zion Church, 5890 South River Church, will host the Star Day Program at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Beatrice Vaughters, pastor of Ambassador for Jesus Christ in Cleveland. Star Day is a scholarship fundraiser for the Omega Chapter No. 242, OES, PHA in Cleveland. The community and public are invited.
Salem Lutheran Church, 5080 Sherrills Ford Road, is highlighting upcoming youth and children’s ministry opportunities with an information and registration presentation for Agape Day Camp at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
The camp will be held July 29 through Aug. 2. Agape Day Camp is a ministry of Agape Kure Beach Ministries and is for rising first through eighth graders.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and campers learn about their faith through Bible Study, songs, skits, games, crafts and group interaction.
There is a cost for the camp, but scholarships are available.

KANNAPOLIS– First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis will pack 10,000 emergency meals for Stop Hunger Now during its 11 a.m. service Sunday in the fellowship hall. The event is suitable for elementary-age children and older.
Stop Hunger Now is an international relief organization based in North Carolina whose mission is to end hunger in our lifetime.
