Carolina Panthers T-shirt confuses 2 Carolinas

CHARLOTTE (AP) — The people who print Carolina Panthers T-shirts for Nike apparently could use a geography lesson.
The Charlotte Observer reports that the sports apparel maker recently offered a black Panthers T-shirt which includes a blue silhouette of the state of South Carolina, the team’s logo inside the silhouette and the letters “NC” in the upper left corner of the silhouette.
A reader told the newspaper that he bought the shirt anyway for $32. The shirt no longer appears on the website.
While the team’s name is meant to encompass the two Carolinas, the Panthers play their home games in Charlotte, and their stadium is approximately 10 miles from the South Carolina state line.
Spokesmen for Nike didn’t immediately respond to emails seeking comment Friday.
