Cocaine, marijuana found during traffic stop

SALISBURY — Less than two weeks after being nabbed on drug charges, a Salisbury man was back behind bars Friday.

Authorities arrested 22-year-old Miguel Urrutia, of Salisbury, after officers reportedly found bags of crack cocaine and marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday.


Police said Urrutia initially gave officers a fake name. Authorities were able to spot a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the vehicle’s ashtray. Urrutia later admitted who he was.

Inside the 1994 Toyota Camry’s center console, investigators found 4.1 grams, or .14 ounces, of cocaine and 13.1 grams, or .46 ounces, of marijuana. Police also seized $354 in cash.

Urrutia was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and felony possession of marijuana.

He was placed under a $75,000 bond.

Authorities said Urrutia was jailed on June 23 on drug charges.

According to court records, Urrutia is due in court on five felony drug offenses.

He is slated for court on July 15 on charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for storing drugs.
