Salisbury Police cited a Salisbury couple with walking out of Walmart with $1,200 worth of fitness and lawn equipment. Kelly Harris, 36, and Timothy Evans, 42, both of the 200 block of Victoria Street, were cited with misdemeanor possession of stolen goods and misdemeanor larceny, respectively.
The two were seen on in-store cameras walking in through the garden center. Along their way into the store, the tapes shows the two picked up a string trimmer, a push lawn mower and a leaf blower. Police say once inside the store, Harris and Evans placed a treadmill and a weight set into their cart. The two went to the front of the store, beyond the cash registers and out the door. Surveillance video shows Harris and Evans getting all the items into a gray Ford Taurus.
An employee was able to obtain a license plate. The officers were able to trace the license plate to the couple. Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said officers called the couple, who agreed to return to the store. The couple then agreed to take police to their home. The Victoria Street home had much of what was taken from the store inside a bathroom. Officers also found another string trimmer, a second leaf blower and an RCA 5-CD changer.
Evans told the officer he sold the treadmill. All of the stolen items were returned to Walmart.
