SALISBURY — First Presbyterian Church will kick off its five week Summer Worship Celebration series Sunday.

Worship for each Sunday will begin at 10 a.m. with Sunday School at 9 a.m.

Much planning has been expended to insure this summer worship will truly be a time of celebration.

The Session has decided that instead of coming together with three worship times the congregation will meet in a critical mass for one worship service of celebration at 10 a.m.

The message Sunday in Lewis Hall will focus around the theme Everywhere Fun Fair. The previous week of Vacation Bible School will be celebrated during worship.

Following worship, the Fellowship Committee will host a meal including hot dogs, potato chips, tea, lemonade and Jeff Beaver’s Funnel Cakes around the fountain. There will also be an inflatable for children.

The July 7 sermon, held in the sanctuary, will focus on Heritage Sunday.

The congregation will meet at 9:35 around the fountain, where guest bagpiper Dave McKenzie will call them to worship with the sound of the pipes.

At 9:55, piper Dave will lead the listening congregation into the sanctuary for the 10 a.m. service.

Music will include early Reformation choral tunes, Psalm-singing, favorite early American hymns, a medley of Patriotic hymns and the joyful sounds of the Everyman’s Bible Sunday School class.

Thanksgiving will be the focus of the July 14 service.

Celebrate God’ s Amazing Providence during worship. The congregation will gather for the 2nd annual Tomato Lunch in Lewis Hall with BLT sandwiches for all at 11 a.m.

A Festival of Hymns, Celebrating Discipleship-themed service will take place July 21 in the sanctuary

Through music and scripture the congregation will celebrate God’s call to action: the call to Moses, to Elijah, Jesus’ call to his followers and God’s call to us.

The July 31 service in Lewis Hall will focus on the 2013 TWAM Mission Trip. Church youth will lead the worship as they report on their recent mission trip to Costa Rica.
