Member of McCrory’s staff visits Carson
SALISBURY — Just before school ended for the year, Jesse C. Carson High School celebrated “Legislative Day” with a visit from Chris Estes, chief information officer for N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory.
“Mr. Estes interacted with the students describing political initiatives as they relate to technology and education,” said Carson principal Kelly Withers in a school press release. “The students were excited to be able to speak directly with someone who is part of the Governor’s core team.”
Estes participated in a “lunch and learn” with students in teacher Amie Williams’ contemporary studies class. He talked with students about his role in government, his educational background, his journey to an appointed office and other topics.
“The opportunity to have a representative from the governor’s office was a great way to end our year,” Williams said in the press release.
Students also showcased their “Be The Change” projects for Estes. He then took a tour of the school, including the Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Art Academy classes.
