Two lodges bestowed awards to two eighth-graders at area middle schools.

Seven Sons Masonic Lodge 357 and Salisbury Elks Lodge 699 gave the Brotherhood Award to a male and female eighth grader at each middle school. The students each received a $100 Books-A-Million gift card.

The Seven Sons lodge started the award last year, giving the awards to students leaving Erwin and Knox middle schools. At each school, the award was given to a male student who overcome struggles during the school year.

The partnership with the Elks lodge allowed for the awards to be expanded to all middle schools. The Seven Sons lodge held benefit car washes to raise money for the awards.

For more information on the lodges, contact Kevin Frey at 704-202-5779, Thomas Cousar at 704-345-9482 or James Mosley at 704-267-9009.
