ROCKWELL — Authorities are trying to determine who broke into the home of a Rockwell man while he spent two nights in the county jail. Someone stole a 50-inch television from Ronald Burridge, 56, sometime between June 23 and June 25.

He was arrested Sunday June 23 and charged on outstanding warrants for habitual felon and assault on a female. When Burridge returned to his home, in the 8100 block of Orphanage Road, he discovered his missing television. He told Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies his nephew was supposed to lock his home. His nephew indicated he locked the back door, but did not lock the front door. A neighbor told Burridge he’d seen a white van pull up to the front door sometime while Burridge was gone. He valued the TV at $700.

Officials said Burridge was also charged with resist, obstruct, delay an officer. When deputies went to serve warrants on Burridge he intentionally did not open the door. His vehicle was parked in the driveway and when deputies forced open the door, Burridge was sitting on the couch, a few feet from the door.

Burridge has also been convicted of second-degree kidnapping stemming from an 1990 incident. He has also been convicted of drug possession.
