Inspired by the dramatic out-pouring of grief and sympathy over the loss of Grimes Mill to fire two weeks ago, Historic Salisbury Foundation volunteers have banded together to create a book, “Remembering Grimes Mill.”
The purpose of the book is to document the history of the mill, the people who operated it, the memories residents have of the mill and what it meant to families and the community. All types of memorabilia are welcome.
To that end, the public is invited to submit their written memories, photographs or artifacts, to be considered for inclusion in the final product. Photos will be scanned and returned to the owner if desired. Written submissions are not limited in length but will be subject to editing. This is a volunteer opportunity to help capture the fading image of a lost landmark and an important industry that served Salisbury for more than 100 years. No money will be paid for submissions, but acknowledgment will be given to the source.

The Grimes Mill Project Team would like to have all submissions by March 1, but material will always be welcome for the archives.
