Salisbury man shot in legs
SALISBURY — A Salisbury man was shot in the legs after a dispute at a home on Lincolnton Road on Monday.
Salisbury Police said Demario Demoane Fisher, of Crosby Street, was shot once in each leg shortly after he exited a home on Lincolnton. Police said Fisher and a female companion arrived at the residence Monday evening, but when he exited, the woman was surrounded by several other men. Fisher tried to run, police said, but was injured during the dispute.
“It was not random,” Capt. Shelia Lingle said.
Officers are investigating the shooting, but no one had been arrested Tuesday morning.
Police were called to Lincolnton Road about 8:30 p.m. in response to a shots fired call. Not long after, officials from Novant Health Rowan Medical Center contacted law enforcement about a shooting victim.
Lingle said Fisher’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Fisher, a convicted felon, has made the news several times in the last few years during high-profile arrests. In October 2011, Rowan deputies arrested Fisher and another man after authorities said the two attempted to rob an undercover officer during a sting operation at a Kannapolis Burger King. In March, Fisher was taken into custody after he and his aunt were stopped during a traffic stop. Police charged the 22-year-old with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court calendars, he has 10 pending felony charges for unresolved cases in the last three years.
