Landis couple took lambs, goats from livestock auction, authorities say

LANDIS — Authorities say a Landis couple took six lambs and 12 goats worth $1,670 on June 7 from Shelby Livestock Auctions.

Jeremy Todd Patterson, 29, and Tracy Lynn Payne, 31, of North Meriah Street in Landis, are charged with larceny. They are scheduled to appear in court June 24 in Cleveland County on the animal theft charges.


Patterson, whose address is also listed as South Valley Street in Landis, also faces charges of communicating threats, trespass, possessing stolen goods and two counts of failing to appear in court. He was charged by authorities in Rowan, Cleveland, Ashe and Iredell counties.

Payne is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $2,500 bond. Patterson is in the jail as well under $4,450 bond.

Teen charged with stealing street bike, trespassing at museum

SPENCER — An East Spencer teenager is charged with stealing a Honda street bike and trespassing at the N.C. Transportation Museum.

Spencer police say in March, Xaviar Ford, 16, of East Henderson Street in East Spencer, stole the $1,000 bike, trespassed at the museum and tried to flee on foot during a police investigation.

Ford is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Man accused of using someone else’s credit card to buy gas

KANNAPOLIS — A Kannapolis man used someone else’s credit card to buy gas and cigarettes in April at a convenience store, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office says.

Danny Jordan, 53, of South Main Street in Kannapolis, is charged with obtaining property by false pretense.

He is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center under $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

China Grove woman facing drug charges has bond set at $40,500

KANNAPOLIS — A China Grove woman is in jail under $40,500 bond after Kannapolis police say she had drugs, syringes and a crack pipe on Wednesday.

Amber Nicole Purser, 26, of Central Avenue in China Grove is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of probation violation and one count of failing to appear in court.

She is in the Rowan County Detention Center and is to appear in court Tuesday.
