SALISBURY — Eric Brady, a financial consultant with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has earned membership in the 2013 Million Dollar Round Table. Rowan County new car dealers, members of the Greater Charlotte Automobile Association, presented the YMCA of Rowan County $10,000 as part of the organization’s contributions to YMCAs in the Charlotte area.
The YMCA was the charity partner for the Charlotte International Auto Show, which took place Nov. 15-18 at the Charlotte Convention Center. It included more than 400 vehicles.
A portion of the ticket proceeds, generating more than $100,000, benefited nine area YMCAs.
“We want to thank our partners from the Charlotte International Auto Show for supporting the YMCA and strengthening our communities with this donation,” said Jamie Morgan, chief executive officer of the YMCA of Rowan County.
Since the YMCA does not turn anyone away for the inability to pay, funding from other sources is needed to support those youth who otherwise could not afford to participate in YMCA programs and membership activities. The “We Build People” Annual Campaign and funds from other sources like the Greater Charlotte Automobile Association and Rowan County United Way help scholarship youth and their families in the areas of aquatics, after school supervision, childcare, mentoring, sports, Christian Outreach and Special Events.
“At the Y, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” Morgan said.
