Nonprofit Pops at the Post relies on donations
SALISBURY — Pops at the Post began in 2005 as a way to celebrate the Salisbury Post’s 100th birthday
Now it’s an annual communitywide event, attracting thousands to each concert, and it relies on communitywide support.
Last year, Pops at the Post began operating as its own entity, a nonprofit organization that can receive tax-deductible contributions.
Free to participants, the concert is held on the first Saturday in June — this year for the ninth time.
But putting on a concert costs money. Local businesses and philanthropists have given generously to keep the concert going. With the transition to a nonprofit organization, it became easier for more people to support Pops at the Post.
There are still sponsorship opportunities, but individual supporters can donate to the event online through the Pops at the Post causes page on Facebook.
Or you can mail in a check, sending it to Pops at the Post, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145. Make checks payable to Pops at the Post.
And the Civitan Club plans to “pass the hat” for donations during intermission at this year’s concert.
