Wreck takes out power, but no one hurt

WOODLEAF — Hundreds of people lost electricity early Sunday morning when a pickup truck hit a power line pole in northwestern Rowan County.
According to Trooper Coward with the N.C. Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday on Cool Springs Road near Depot Road. No one was injured, he said, and investigators don’t believe alcohol was involved.
According to Duke Energy’s automated outage hotline, about 450 nearby customers lost power for several hours after the wreck. Electricity was restored around 10:30 a.m.
