Three charged with trafficking heroin
Authorities have charged three people following a monthlong investigation into a large-scale heroin operation where they say drugs and cash were seized.
The Salisbury Police’s narcotics unit, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the SBI were involved in the investigation. Investigators charged Stephanie Marie Broadway, 36, of the 300 block of West Colonial Drive, Salisbury; Eric Singer, 66, of the 900 block of Goodson Road, Salisbury; and Andre Perkins, 41, of the 300 block of Weant Street, East Spencer.
Broadway was charged with trafficking heroin and conspire to traffic in heroin, both felonies. She remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. Singer was charged with trafficking in heroin, conspire to traffic in heroin, possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of marijuana; all are felonies. Singer remains in the county jail under a $750,000 secured bond. Perkins was charged with felony trafficking in heroin and conspire to traffic in heroin.
Investigators seized 34.4 grams (1.2 ounces) of heroin, 4 grams (.14 ounces) of powder cocaine, 28.8 grams (1 ounce) of marijuana and $1,802 in cash.
Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said each person has some involvement, including delivering the drugs and making drug deals. The three were arrested in a shopping center parking lot in the 100 block of Mooresville Road. Broadway’s father owns Broadway Insurance in the same shopping center where the arrests occurred.
