J.C. Price hosts Memorial Week events

J.C. Price American Legion Post 107 is hosting its annual Memorial Week Celebration beginning Friday and running through June 2 at 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road. Parking will be available.

An annual event for more than 50 years, the week honors those who gave their lives in service to the nation and has generated revenue for children, youth and veterans program throughout the year.

The schedule is:

• Friday: Kickoff includes comedy and karaoke hosted by Walt and Meesha.

• Saturday: Includes retirement party for DJ Mr. Clean-Disco Machine, who has been in the business 50 years.

• Monday and Tuesday Gospel singing from local groups hosted by Comrade Homer Robertson and Roland Carter; also a Posteverlasting service for deceased veterans and their families hosted by Commander Mae Carroll and Chaplain Leonard Hall.

• Wednesday to Saturday, June 1: Entertainment upstairs at the Post by mystery DJs.

• Saturday, June 1: Ladies Auxiliary sponsoring a dance.

TC’s Amusements from Rock Hill, S.C., will have 12 rides Thursday through Saturday. Armbands and tickets will be available.

Security and police will be present on the grounds. No alcohol, dogs, mopeds, bikes or motorcycles allowed on post grounds.
