A Salisbury Post photographer caught this snowy scene at the Square in Salisbury Dec. 13, 1945. The downtown’s main intersection is decorated for Christmas. Looking south down South Main Street, you might be able to make out the signs of the Belk-Harry Store, deep and to the right. You also can see Arnold’s, Newsom Jewelers and the Smart Shop on that side of the street, along with a couple of drugstores. On the left, the prominent marquee of the Victory Theatre reveals the movie playing, ‘Diamond Horseshoe,’ starring Dick Haymes, Betty Grable, Phil Silvers and William Gaxton.
