Thief breaks into Romano’s, takes money from register

Someone broke into a local restaurant Friday morning using tools from an on-site construction project there. Police say money was taken from a register at Romano’s restaurant.

The restaurant, located on West Innes Street, reopened nearly three months ago after a 2011 fire.

Salisbury Police were called to the property Friday around 10 a.m. where investigators found someone used a sledgehammer and a pickax to break a glass door. The tools came from behind the building, a report said. The cash drawers had been entered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
