When John and I went we found a pleasant area with nice people. Take another pair with you and have fun.
Friday’s Evergreen game winners were: First, Myrnie and John McLaughlin; second, Peter Boyd-Bowman and Betsy Bare; third, Ruth Short and Pat Featherston.
This week’s hand was board No. 3 at Friday’s game. E/W vulnerable South dealer. The Featherston/Short scored the best N/S score setting East’s 5HW* -5
The McLaughlins scored the best E/W making 5CE*
Because N/S was bidding Spades, South led the spade 5. This allowed East to trump the first trick. Then the heart 7 was lead from hand taking a finesse winning with the T on the board. The diamond 7 was led winning with the Q . The diamond 3 was led and trumped. A spade was led to hand and trumped. Time to draw trump. The club J was led, falling to the A. Now any lead by N/S can be taken, the last trump pulled and the rest of the tricks are won. Bid made. If South led the heart K or played a high heart when the 7 was led by declarer the bid goes down. Sometimes it’s not correct to lead your suit or to play low in second seat. E/W had some help.
