Hood professor appointed to Episcopal commission

Dr. Dora Mbuwayesango, dean of students and holder of the George E. Battle Jr. Professorial Chair in Old Testament at Hood Theological Seminary, was recently appointed during the General Conference of the governing body of the Episcopal Church to serve on the Standing Commission on Anglican and International Peace with Justice Concerns by the president of the House Deputies of the Episcopal Church.
Mbuwayesango serves as a member of the vestry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Salisbury.
Mbuwayesango’s term on this commission runs through 2018. It is the duty of the commission to develop recommendations and strategies regarding common ministry opportunities and concerns with other provinces of the Anglican Communion concerning the work of the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion on issues of international peace with justice, and to make recommendations on these issues to the presiding bishop, the Executive Council and the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in the USA.
The conference was held in Indianapolis.
Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury is sponsored by the AME Zion Church and approved by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church.
