CHARLOTTE (AP) — Charlotte-based department store chain Belk Inc. is stuck in the middle after an ad for the stores appeared on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.
The Charlotte Observer reported that an ad for Belk was apparently noticed Monday by a group on Facebook that monitors Limbaugh’s advertisers in an attempt to pressure the conservative talk show host.
Belk says it does not advertise on liberal or conservative radio talk shows and says the ad was placed by a third-party vendor.
Belk says it asked the vendor to remove the ad.
That request prompted Facebook complaints from conservatives who were upset that Belk does not advertise on the show.
Belk spokeswoman Jessica Graham says the complaints from liberals and conservatives are the reason it does not advertise on talk radio.
