Salisbury man leads police on foot chase, is shocked
Authorities had to use a Taser on a Salisbury man who they say snuck into a fence at a local apartment complex Tuesday night and took police on a short foot chase through an apartment.
The Salisbury Police charged Shante Rochelle Brown, 25, of the 700 block of South Ellis Street, with resist, obstruct, delay an officer; simple possession of marijuana and second-degree trespass, all misdemeanors.
Members of the Police Interdiction Team were at Clancy Street Apartments when an officer saw a man, later identified as Brown, come through a back fence. She followed him. Brown walked behind building 126, ducked into an apartment and came out. Brown spotted the officer and headed toward a breezeway area. When the officer caught up to Brown, she yelled for him to stop, but he continued. She chased Brown a short distance and drew her Taser.
Brown went into an unlocked apartment as the officer fired her Taser. He ran to a rear bedroom and the officer grabbed the back of his hoodie. Both Brown and the officer fell to the ground. Brown was in possession of 18.5 grams of marijuana.
Brown remains in the Rowan County jail under a $2,000 secured bond. Brown was convicted in 2006 of misdemeanor breaking and entering.
