One lane of I-85N closed in Davidson County

UPDATE: Two of three lanes are now open on I-85 North just north of N.C. 109 near Thomasville. The right lane will remain closed until crews move the tanker truck from the roadway. Please use caution in the area.

All lanes of I-85 North just north of N.C. 109 near Thomasville are currently closed to traffic due to an accident involving a tanker truck. The interstate is expected to reopen early this afternoon.

While the closure is in place, the N.C. Department of Transportation has set up the following detour route to help motorists avoid the accident scene:

From I-85 North, take N.C. 109 North (Exit 103);

Turn right onto N.C. 62 East; and

Turn right onto U.S. 311 South to return to I-85 North.
