Two injured after pickup hits man on horse

CHINA GROVE — Two people are injured - one critically - after a vehicle struck a man riding a horse this afternoon.

A Ford pickup was traveling east on Old Beatty Ford Road near Lentz Road around 3:30 p.m. today when it hit a man on a horse. The animal, which died in the crash, had been spooked and ran out into the road.


The horse’s rider was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. According to emergency scanner communications, his injuries were critical.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Carolinas Medical Center Northeast in Concord.
