David Lee Kendrick II, 27, of Garden Lane, was charged with six counts of financial transaction card theft, 14 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and three counts of misdemeanor larceny.
David Lee Kendrick Sr. told Rowan County Sheriff’s deputies his card, issued to him by the Employment Security Commission, was used while he’d spent some time in the hospital. The elder David Kendrick told investigators his son used the card for nine months from July 2012 to December 2012.
David Lee Kendrick II’s mother, Kathy, who had also spent time in the hospital, told authorities her SunTrust debit card was used without her authorization. The bank debit card was used about five times.
The son told officials he had his parents’ permission to use the cards, which they denied.
Kendrick was arrested Jan. 31 and remained in the Rowan County Detention Center on Monday under a $20,000 secured bond.
