Authorities made quite a discovery while serving an arrest warrant on a Foursons Drive man Tuesday when they found a small amount of black tar heroin on him.

The Salisbury Police charged David Lynn Stewart, 25, of the 1100 block of Foursons Drive, Salisbury, with felony possession of a controlled schedule I substance and they served an April arrest warrant, charging him with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Stewart was arrested just before 10 p.m. in the 1500 block of East Innes Street. When the officer took Stewart to the magistrate’s office to issue a bond, he was seen trying to get rid of the heroin. He was in possession of .01 gram of the substance. It was inside a white napkin. The officer saw the heroin on the floor between Stewart’s feet and it was seized.

He was given a $10,000 secured bond and remains in the Rowan County Detention Center.

In 2006, Stewart was convicted of misdemeanor breaking and entering and injury to personal property. In 2008 and 2011, he was convicted of driving while license revoked.
