Law enforcement officials charged a Salisbury man with breaking into a North Jackson Street apartment in April. The Salisbury Police charged Demario Antwan Brown, 27, of the 1200 block of West Horah Street, with felony breaking and entering a building and felony larceny. The incident occurred April 21 at an apartment where the renter interrupted the break-in.

Authorities say Brown and another man, who has not been arrested, went into the apartment. The victim’s mother and a male were at the apartment, but had just left for a short walk and then returned. The renter had also left the apartment, but returned. The victim told police she heard someone in the apartment and then two men ran from a back room and out through a sliding glass door. The male told police he recognized one of the men, who was later identified as Brown. The suspects stole some DVDs and nothing else.

Brown remains in the Rowan County jail under a $3,000 secured bond.

According to the N.C. Department of Correction, Brown is currently on probation for a February 2012 conviction of delivering and selling drugs. He was convicted in August 2011 of common law robbery. In 2010, Brown was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon, resisting an officer and drug possession. He was also convicted in 2003 of drug possession.
