Lankford - Matthews
CHARLOTTE - Julie Ann Lankford and Nathaniel David Matthews were united in marriage Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Deerpond Plantation. The 4 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Pastor Matthew Seals of Laurinburg and was followed by a dinner reception and dancing.
The bride arrived by horse-drawn carriage. Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, she wore an Alencon lace on organza gown designed by Mori Lee. Robin Nance of Salisbury served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Chelsey Matthews, sister of the groom of Hickory, Mary Kate Walker of Gastonia, Samantha Kelley of Salisbury, Olivia Currin of Salisbury and Amy Hada of Charlotte.
Tyler Matthews, brother of the groom of Hickory, served as best man. Groomsmen were Spencer Matthews, brother of the groom of Hickory, Alex Parr of Mocksville, Kristopher Honeycutt of Charlotte and Dallas Mesimer of Mooreville.
Carissa Reebel of Concord and Catie Lazaro of Harrisburg, cousins of the bride, served as flower girls.
Ellen Sisk, aunt of the groom of Wilmington, served as guest registrar. Kristen Honeycutt of Charlotte served as wedding director.
The bride is the daughter of Gary Lankford and Ann Lankford, both of Salisbury, and the granddaughter of James and Jean Lankford of Cooleemee and the late R.L. “Bob” and Mildred Campbell of Spencer. Julie graduated in 1997 from North Hills Christian School as class salutatorian and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2002 from UNC-Charlotte, where she majored in Health Promotion and Kinesiology and minored in Psychology. She is currently employed by Wells Fargo in Charlotte.
The groom is the son of Timothy and Janet Matthews of Hickory and the grandson of Harriet and the late David Matthews of Plymouth, Mich., and A.K. “Ken” and Betty Burriss of Wilmington. Nathaniel graduated in 2001 from Fred T. Foard High School in Hickory and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2007 from Catawba College, where he majored in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. He is currently employed by Wells Fargo in Charlotte.
Following a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Concord.

On Aug. 11, 2012, a bridal shower was given by April Reebel, aunt of the bride, Jeanna Lazaro, cousin of the bride, and Vanessa Lankford, aunt of the bride, in Concord. Special guests included Ann Lankford, mother of the bride, and Jean Lankford, grandmother of the bride.
On Aug. 17, 2012, bachelor and bachelorette parties were given for the couple in downtown Charlotte.
On Aug. 25, 2012, a bridal shower was given by Kathryn Peacock, aunt of the bride, in Salisbury. Special guests included Ann Lankford, mother of the bride, and Janet Matthews, mother of the groom.
On Sept. 16, 2012, the bride hosted a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Olive Garden in Concord.
On Sept. 28, 2012, the groomÕs parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at ZapataÕs Restaurant in Charlotte. Gifts were presented to the wedding party by the bride and groom.
