Authorities are looking for someone who stole a camper that belonged to the Rowan County Rescue Squad. The camper is a white 2006 Travel Star that is equipped with an electric tongue jack, white propane tank cover, black battery box, a weight distributing hitch and a burgundy awning.

The camper was last seen Tuesday around 3 a.m. and was taken sometime later. Employees noticed the camper was gone Wednesday around 12:30 p.m. The Rescue Squad is located at 1140 Julian Road, where the camper was parked.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft. Officials say surveillance video showed a dark-colored vehicle back up to the camper. Someone hooked it up and the vehicle drove away. The camper had been given to the Rescue Squad during Hurricane Katrina and is valued at $8,000.

The camper’s license plate number is 99693-T. The last four digits of the vehicle number are 6519. The serial number listed on the tongue jack is 1240156. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
