Authorities are investigating two Thursday night robberies they believe are connected involving hoodie-wearing gunmen. The first robbery occurred at a boarding house in the 500 block of North Long Street around 10:15 p.m. A man reported to the police he was in his bedroom when three black males pushed through the door pointing handguns at the victim.

One of the men asked where the money was. The victim told the men he had not gotten paid yet and didn’t have any money.

He was told to not get up or he’d be shot in the head. The victim told police he just laid down on the bed. The men searched the victim’s pockets and found $5 inside. The took the money and left. The victim said he heard three shots fired from a gun once the men were outside, but was not sure which direction the men were shooting.

The men were estimated to be between 17-21 years old. One of the suspects was wearing a gray hoodie and two were wearing black hoodies.

Police also responded to a robbery Thursday at 11:37 p.m. at South Main Street Internet Cafe, 917 S. Main St.

Four masked men walked into the store, two of whom pointed guns at the people who were there. The men wore ski masks and one had a bandana across his face. One suspect watched the door while another went to the cash register.

“These could possibly be connected,” said Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.

The robbery suspects took a total of $625 in cash that included money from the register, an employees’ purse that also contained money, a wallet and a customer’s cell phone.

The men were in the store less than a minute, a report said.

The first suspect was described as a black male 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a gray hoodie. The second suspect wore a white zipped jacket with a light-colored bandana across his face and a light-colored knit cap. Witnesses said the second suspect was a black male between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches. The third suspect was wearing a dark-colored jacket with light stripes on it with long wooden buttons. The third suspect was also black male wearing a hoodie over his head and was between 5 feet 4 inches tall and 5 feet 5 inches tall. There was no height description for the fourth suspect but witnesses said he was a heavy set black male and he had on a light-colored hoodie.

Anyone with information about these incidents are asked to contact the Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
