RALEIGH (AP) — Former Carolina Hurricanes player Ron Francis is one of 11 new inductees to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.

Other inductees include North Carolina football player Kelvin Bryant, former Tar Heel basketball coach Bill Guthridge, and former Cincinnati Reds second baseman Tommy Helms of Charlotte. Also being inducted are Marty Sheets, who holds 250 medals in the Special Olympics and tennis matriarch Mildred F. Southern. Other inductees are sports writer Bob Quincy, fast-pitch softball pitcher Wade Garrett, high school football coach Marion Kirby and former Green Bay Packer Rich McGeorge.

One person is being honored posthumously — photographer and Grandfather Mountain owner Hugh Morton.

They’ll be inducted in a ceremony Thursday at the Raleigh Convention Center marking the 50th annual ceremony for the hall.
