Curry Five Generations

The Curry family features five generations. Standing on the left is grandmother Rachel Annette Curry and on the right is the infantís father, Antonio R·shad Alexander. All live in Salisbury.

Hunter 50th Anniversary

Joe W. and Beatrice Sifford Hunter celebrated 50 years of marriage Dec. 18, 2008, by renewing their wedding vows aboard the Carnival Triumph. The Hunters were married Dec. 20, 1958, at City Hall in York, S.C. They have three daughters and one son, the late Joe Hunter, Jr. who retired from the Air Force.
Joe retired from United Parcel Service, serving 25 years as a feeder driver in Meadowlands, N.J. Bea is a housewife and was employed part-time as a school bus driver in Tedneck, N.J.
Celebrating on the cruise with the Hunters were their three daughters, Brenda Hunter Houston and Billie Jo Hunter, both of Salisbury, and Myra Hunter of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; their grandchildren, Kimberly Glenn of Salisbury, CarasStar Richards of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Hiking Richards and wife Stephanie of the U.S. Army stationed in Madrid, Spain; their great-grandchildren, Dajah, Brandon, Karem, Tyler, Desmund and Amayah; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Jerome and Evenly Leak and Florence Sifford; and 25 friends from New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut.

King – Covington

CHINA GROVE ó Abagail Diane King and Andrew Dale Covington were united in marriage June 20, 2008, at Villa Franca Estate. The Rev. Sandy Kern officiated the 7 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception.
The bride was escorted by her father, Charles E. King. Carly Melissa Moore of Mount Ulla attended as maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Rhonda Fesperman of China Grove and Liz Zimmerman of Los Angeles, Calif. Payten Reeves of Lexington served as junior bridesmaid.
Gary Covington served as his sonís best man. Groomsmen were Jake Fulcher of Cumberland, Va., and brother of the bride Nicholas King of Salisbury.
Nieces of the bride Mattie Reeves and Sydnie Reeves of Lexington were flower girls. Wedding director was Patsy Parnell. Program attendants were Ramsey Tilson and sister of the bride Toshja Reeves.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Carol King of Salisbury and the granddaughter of the late Harold and Helen Litaker and the late Everette and Beatrice King. A 2000 graduate of West Rowan High School, Abagail received a degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2007. She is a third-grade teacher at Millbridge Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Gary and Joan Covington of Mount Ulla and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Jones of Abilene, Va., and Ruby and the late Herbert Covington of Farmville, Va. A 2001 graduate of West Rowan High School, Andrew received a degree in Electronics Engineering from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in 2003. He is employed by Patterson Farms, Inc.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple are living in China Grove.

Moore – Moore

MOUNT ULLA ó Carly Melissa Moore and Matthew Blake Moore were united in marriage Oct. 4, 2008, at Sloan Park. Pastor Mack Jarvis officiated the 4:30 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception at Millbridge Ruritan Club.
The bride was escorted by her father, Earl Moore. Abby Covington of China Grove and sister of the bride Tara Smith of Salisbury served as matrons of honor.
Father of the groom Greg Moore was best man, and Austin Moore of Cleveland, brother of the groom, was groomsman. Christopher Smith served as junior usher.
Madelyn Guevara of Salisbury was flower girl, and Meyler Smith and Samuel Hudgins, both of Salisbury, were ring bearers.
Serving as guest registrars and program attendants were Erica Harrington and Allyson Fesperman, both of China Grove. Wedding director was Rhonda Fesperman of China Grove.
The bride is the daughter of Earl and Cindy Moore of Salisbury and the granddaughter of the late Carl and Laura Moore of Salisbury, Pat Cole of Salisbury and the late Bill Meyler of Jacksonville, N.C. A 2003 graduate of West Rowan High School, Carly received a degree in Mathematics from Catawba College in 2007. She is a math teacher at Carson High School.
The groom is the son of Greg and Tweena Moore of Cleveland and the grandson of Viola and the late Gene Hudgins and Dot and the late Barron Moore, all of Salisbury. A 2001 graduate of West Rowan High School, Matt is a full-time student at Catawba College studying Elementary Education.
Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple are making their home in Mount Ulla.

Plummer – Bernhardt

MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. ó Christina Lee Plummer and Jonathan Lee Bernhardt, both of Huntersville, were united in marriage Oct. 4, 2008, at ChatEau Morrisette. The Rev. Kathrene Chantal officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony, which was followed by a reception.
The bride was escorted by her father and attended by Kelsea Faith Weir of Huntersville as maid of honor. Emma White of Stuart, Va. was junior bridesmaid. Ben Hastings of Salisbury was best man.
The bride is the daughter of Craig and Crystal Plummer of Charlotte. A 2000 graduate of East Lincoln High School, Christina studied at Central Piedmont Community College and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She is a store manager with Starbucks Coffee Co.
The groom is the son of Vernon and Cheryl Bernhardt of Cleveland and the grandson of Naomi and the late Thomas King of Knoxville, Tenn., and Ruth and the late John Cecil Bernhardt of Salisbury. A 1997 graduate of South Iredell High School, Jonathan also studied at East Carolina University. He is employed by NSI Industries in Huntersville.
Following a wedding trip to Grand Cayman Island, the couple are making their home in Huntersville.
