Simple Living Festival will celebrate Earth Day at Dan Nicholas Park’s Nature Center Saturday

Dan Nicholas Park’s Nature Center will be holding a free Simple Living Festival from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday to celebrate Earth Day with crafts, special programs and live entertainment.

The day will take in blacksmithing, woodworking, soapmaking, chainsaw carving and other crafts. The special programming will include presentations at 1 and 3 p.m. by sisters Gail McDiarmid and Marilyn McGee, authors of a new book about the importance of wolves in the wild.


The sisters studied wolves at Yellowstone National Park.

Ken Clifton, a local renewable energy guru, also will talk on how solar energy and sustainable living has changed his life.

The music will be provided by David Myers and Ashley Honbarrier of Big Break, Jim and Angela Gobble, Benjamin Butchart and Joel Everett, Graham Carlton and Mary Gillespie, Jabe Fisher, Sue McHugh, Dalton Rowland and Liam Pendergrass.

All the activities will be held at or near the Nature Center.
