CORNELIUS, N.C. (AP) — Two students at a North Carolina high school have been arrested and accused of making a bomb threat that prompted an evacuation of the building.

The Charlotte Observer reported that Bronco Villafranca, 18, was arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy and with perpetrating a hoax by the use of a false bomb.

Villafranca is a student at Hough High School in Cornelius.

The second student is a juvenile who is being taken to a juvenile detention facility.

Police said Villafranca told them the juvenile had a suspicious package Monday.

Police Chief Bence Hoyle says the package was intercepted before it could be left for someone to find.

But Hoyle says officials evacuated the school and searched for anything else.
