SALISBURY — The local community is invited to a public forum to give input on the search for a new school superintendent.

The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education will hold the forum on May 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Rowan-Salisbury School System Administrative Office, 110 S. Long St., East Spencer.

Individuals will be given three minutes each to address the board. Those interested in speaking may sign up on the evening of the meeting.

Dr. Judy Grissom, who has led the Rowan-Salisbury School System since 2005, plans to retire as superintendent on Sept. 30.

The Board of Education began looking for a new superintendent in early April and tentatively plans to announce its choice for superintendent on Aug. 26.

The forum isn’t the first or only opportunity for the public to have a voice in the school board’s search.

Staff and community members can fill out anonymous surveys to share what they would like to see in the next superintendent. The deadline is May 21.

For the online version of the community survey, visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/BR3FBQV.

For a downloadable PDF (a hard copy), visit www.rss.k12.nc.us.

Hard copies will also be available at the Rowan-Salisbury School System Administrative Offices, community centers, libraries and as advertised through the local news media outlets.
