SALISBURY — Buoyed by good weather and other events in Salisbury, the Seventh Annual Bottle Collectors’ Show at the Civic Center drew a good-sized crowd last Saturday.

“Lots of people don’t know what a Bottle Show is until they come,” said Show Chairman John Patterson, a member of the Piedmont Bottle and Pottery Club, sponsors for the event.

“It’s not a flea market or movie or just plain glass exhibit. It’s a gathering of collectors dedicated to preserving and dealing with historical things made out of glass.”

There are other collectibles complementing bottles — signs, photos, old printed materials, postcards, beer cans, soda cans, pottery and advertising of all kinds.

“It can be said that it’s mainly things we used to have years ago and were thrown away and wish we still had,” Patterson said. “Many of us have these things in attics, basements and out-buildings just waiting to be rediscovered.

“Don’t throw this stuff away, Someone out there is looking for just the thing you may toss out.”

The club’s next show and sale will be April 26, 2014, at the Civic Center.
