Partners In Learning hosts open house for kindergarten and summer camp
SALISBURY — Partners In Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center invites families to attend an open showcasing its new kindergarten program and summer fun camp.
During the open house on May 2 from 3 to 6 p.m., parents can meet administrators and tour the center. They also can learn more about the developmentally appropriate 21st-century kindergarten and “A Seussical Summer” camp program.
Partners In Learning recently announced the new kindergarten program, which opens this August.
“We welcome families to learn more about this exciting new program,” said Executive Director Norma Honeycutt. “We will be offering a stimulating, student-centered, hands-on curriculum where the focus is on each individuals process of learning and not just the product, children thrive in their natural love for learning.”
The kindergarten class will have space for 12 students and one teacher. Honeycutt said there will be a clear emphasis on the development of strong language, math, and science skills.
“The curriculum is a comprehensive approach that challenges children and supports all areas of development,” she said. “The curriculum builds off the child’s knowledge and skill base, learning style, and interests.”
The curriculum will extend from the planned child-choice learning environment utilizing the Common Core Standards and incorporates Second Step Curriculum, Zoo Phonics, More Than Mudpies Nutrition Curriculum and Special Olympics Young Athletes Physical Education Curriculum.
The center offers a summer camp for school-age children. This program provides children with a safe, fun and educational environment including meals and several field trips each week. During the open house, participants will enjoy games from the summer camp theme, karaoke and “Cat in the Hat” fruit kabobs.
