China Grove Police Officer David Lambert will sit on top of Gary’s Barbecue in China Grove this weekend to raise money for Relay for Life. This is the third year the officer has spent the night on the roof of the building.

Lambert will go onto the roof of the restaurant, located at 620 U.S. 29, at noon Friday and come down Saturday at 7 p.m. Lambert is a school resource officer with Carson High School.

While Lambert is on the roof, he’ll be joined by fellow officers who will be there to support his cause. In the past, Police Chief Eddie Kluttz and other officers and town officials joined Lambert. On Friday night at 7 p.m. the band “Bucket List” will perform at Gary’s.

Lambert is selling T-shirts for $12 or two shirts for $20 that are available at Gary’s and the China Grove Police Department, 205 Swink St.

Money will also be raised through a $5 raffle where the prize will be one of three rifles. The theme to this year’s Relay event is “Hunting for a Cure.”

The winners of the rifles will get to choose them at the Relay for Life event May 3 and the other two will be chosen at the China Grove Farmers Day in July.

For more information about the raffle or Cop on Top, contact Officer David Lambert at Carson High School at 704-855-7297.
