Goss ~ Rittersbacher
Olivia Agner Goss and Dorian Rittersbacher were united in marriage Saturday, March 23, 2013. The wedding service and reception were held at the Historic Salisbury Train Station. Ms. Meredith Sloan of Charlotte officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony.
The bride, wearing her mother’s wedding gown, was escorted by her father, Dr. Frederick U. Goss, and attended by her sister, Martha Louise Goss, who served as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included sister of the groom Angela Safferling of Gorxheimertal, Germany; Lindsey Davis of Salisbury, currently living in Wilmington; Lauren Shepler of Lexington, currently living in Chapel Hill; Amber Stoll of Raleigh; Lillian Strickland of Louisiana, currently living in Waco, Texas; Paula Sujkowska of Raleigh; Jenny Tenney of Salisbury; and Zina Thornton of Fayetteville. Flower girls were Emily Stanton of Charlotte, Elly Ruth Dishman of Salisbury and Ruthie Mauro of Salisbury, all daughters of the brideÕs cousins.
Simon Walther of Karlsruhe, Germany, stood as the groomÕs best man. Other groomsmen included brother of the bride Aaron Frederick Goss, Armin Hartmann of Raleigh and Andreas Henckel of Germany, currently living in Kingsport, Ontario.
Guest registrar was Miss Elsie Carpenter of Mooresville, a cousin of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Frederick U. Goss of Salisbury and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Roy A. Agner, Jr., of Salisbury and the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell E. Goss of Fuquay-Varina. Olivia is majoring in International Studies with a concentration in International Relations at N.C. State University.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Rittersbacher of Gorxheimertal, Germany, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Rittersbacher of Weinheim, Germany, the late Mr. Horst Schmutzenhofer of Dortmund, Germany, and Mrs. Sieglinde Pfeiffer of Austria. Dorian is a graduate of Hagen University and is completing his studies in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
Mrs. Leonard (Rita) Bolick of Salisbury, Mrs. Greg (Kathy) Shepler of Lexington and Miss Lauren Shepler of Chapel Hill gave the bride an Alice in Wonderland-themed bridal shower on March 3 at the Springs Clubhouse at High Rock Lake.
Mrs. George (Elizabeth) Ruth of Terrell, Mrs. John (Joy) Fisher of Granite Quarry and Dr. Rachel Ross of Salisbury held a Bridesmaids’ Luncheon on the day of the wedding at the Cloninger House at Catawba College, which was attended by the bride and her mother, Mrs. Fred (Georgi) Goss, the mother of the groom Mrs. Gerhard (Liane) Rittersbacher, the bridesmaids, and mothers of two of the bridesmaids, Mrs. Kyle (Kim) Davis of Salisbury and Mrs. Greg (Kathy) Shepler of Lexington.
The Rehearsal Dinner was held at the Country Club of Salisbury.
The couple took a honeymoon trip to Charleston and Asheville, and are making their first home together in Switzerland as Dorian finishes his studies in business at the University of St. Gallen. Another wedding reception is planned for September near the groom’s hometown in Germany.
