Eight members from the Salisbury-Rowan Church Women United unit enjoyed the State Assembly in Greensboro last weekend with 32 fellow state church women.

The theme was “Bring God’s Shalom: Nurturing Healthy Lives.”

Those attending were Jean Kennedy, BettyJo Hardy, Sarah Byerly, Brenda Venning, Phyllis Thomside, Manie Richardson, Doris Boyd-Brown and Lynn Bolick.

The program Friday included the executive board meeting, a Bible Study led by Shannon Martin with the NC Council of Churches, dinner, inspirational music by Richard Harding, the processional of the unit banners and a message from the Rev. Dr. Arnetta Beverly.

Saturday’s activities featured a hands-on mission project of packing health kits or packing health equipment, messages from Shannon Martin, Joanna Welborn with Student Action with Farmworkers, Liza Cozart from the Blankets Program with Church World Service and the new coordinator of the Mothers and Their Children Prison Ministry (MATCH).

The assembly closed with a memorial service led by Sarah Byerly.

This was an opportunity to remember those of our group who have passed in the last year.

There were 12 names read and they were from eight different units. Caroline Honeycutt and Eva Johnson were remembered from the SRCW.
