Hall’s Chapel

Hall’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, 611 E. Monroe St., will host its annual Pastor’s Aid hotdog and fish fry from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

Solid Rock breakfast

The Men’s Ministry of Solid Rock, 1004 Locke St., will be hosting a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 9 a.m. today.


Minister Chad Lockhart, son of the Rev. David and Mrs. Constance Lockhart, pastor and first lady of First Church of God Concord, is the guest preacher.

Southern City

A live music event at 1403 Old Wilkesboro Road will raise money for Southern City’s evangelist group.

The event begins at 8 a.m. today

Appreciation services

The appreciation services for Overseer Louise Everhart of Holy Temple, 803 Railroad St., continue at 7:30 p.m. today and at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speakers include Norzley Krider of Ambassdor for Christ, Prophetess Charity Gladden from New Hope AME Zion and Prophetess Mary Geter of Greater Truimphant Glory of Salisbury.

Jackson Park UMC

KANNAPOLIS — Jackson Park United Methodist Church, 715 Mable Ave., is hosting a spring revival this weekend with guest speaker Marilynn Chadwick, author, popular speaker, pastor’s wife and director of global outreach at Forest Hill Church in Charlotte.

The revival theme is “Watching God.”

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

A covered dish meal will be held in the church gym at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Oakdale Baptist

SPENCER — Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles St., will hold revival services beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The evening revival service will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Antioch Baptist

CLEVELAND — Antioch Baptist Church, 968 Triplett Road, will celebrate the fourth pastoral anniversary of the Rev. David Leaven on Sunday.

The 11 a.m. service speaker will be the Rev. Eric Imes, associate pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church of Concord.

The invited afternoon speaker is Bishop Walter Gwin Sr., pastor of Spirit of the Word Church of Charlotte. That service begins at 3 p.m.

Mount Zion UCC

CHINA GROVE — The Mount Zion UCC Children’s Choir will sing, under the leadership of choir director Mary Corriher and musician Carole Brooke, during the 11 a.m. service Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Eastertide.

The Golden Agers will hold their monthly lunch meeting at 11 a.m. at Gary’s BBQ on Wednesday.

Following lunch, Darrell Blackwelder of the Rowan County Department of Agriculture will host a question and answer period on gardening and landscaping.

Ardis Chapel

Ardis Chapel AME Zion Church, 1940 Old Mocksville Road, will be celebrating its 144th anniversay with a Twelve Tribe program at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller, presiding elder of the Winston-Salem district, will be the guest preacher.

Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

St. Luke Missionary Baptist

The Senior Choir of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road, will celebrate their annual Choir Day at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Guest speaker for the event will be the Rev. Timothy Bridges, pastor of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in East Spencer.

Patriotic concert

ROCKWELL — The Piedmont Singing Men will present a concert of patriotic, gospel and contemporary Christian music at 3 p.m. Sunday at Lyerly Evangelical Church, 1320 Crescent Road.

The group has 35 singers from 21 churches in the Kannapolis/Concord area.

Organized in 2003, the group sings several times a month at churches and other venues. Randy Childers is the director.

World of Faith Outreach Ministries

Pastor Kevin Little will be the guest speaker at World of Faith Outreach Ministries, 2600 Cottage St., at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Providence AME Zion

Providence AME Zion will have a Twelve Tribes of Israel march at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The history and narrative of the Twelve Tribes of Israel will be given by the host pastor, the Rev. Zacharias Allen Sr.

St. John’s UCC

KANNAPOLIS — “Saturday Night at St John’s,” a free soup and singing event, will start at 5 p.m. today. This will be gospel and country singing.

Blaise Baptist

MOCKSVILLE — The Erskine Gospel Choir from Erskine College in Due West, S.C. will present an evening of music and worship at 6 p.m. Sunday at Blaise Baptist Church, 134 Blaise Church Road.

The service will take place in the sanctuary and a love offering will be received.

The Edwards Family at Woodleaf UMC

WOODLEAF — The Edwards Family will be performing Sunday at Woodleaf United Methodist Church, 9000 Church St.

Singing will begin at 6 p.m. with refreshments and fellowship following.

Easter Family in concert

The Easter Family singers and The Easter Brothers will be in concert together at Calvary Baptist Church at 6 p.m. Sunday.

These two multi-talented groups are from Mt. Airy, and have written Gospel music and performed in concerts that span more than 50 years of ministry.

Calvary Baptist Church is located on East Ridge Road just beyond Ellis crossroads.

The Stevens Family to sing

LANDIS — The Stevens Family, a gospel trio from Warren, Ohio, will minister at Landis First Assembly, 302 E. Corriher St., at 6 p.m. Sunday.

This family trio has been traveling in music ministry since 1985.

They have completed many recordings, which showcase their creative song writing abilities.

Their songs have been recorded by artists such as Greater Vision, The Whisnants, and The Inspirations.

They have shared the platform with groups such as Karen Peck & New River, the Triumphant Quartet, The Couriers, Brian Free and Assurance, The Mark Trammell Quartet, The Whisnants, and the Talley Trio.

Their recent radio singles have charted in The Singing News Magazine and the Radioactive Airplay Weekly Top 100 Chart.

United Ministerial Alliance

The UMA will host its joint worship service at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Baptist Church, 410 Hawkinstown Road.

The Rev. Paul Jones Sr., of New Zion Baptist Church will be preaching.

COGA District Convention at LCC

EAST SPENCER —The North Western and South Eastern District of the Church of God Apostolic will have it District Convention at Love Christian Center, 102 N. Long St. Wednesday through Saturday, April 27.

Services will start at 7:30 p.m. every day except Saturday, which will get under way at 10 a.m.

There will be people from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia at the convention.

CG First Baptist

CHINA GROVE — There will be a Block Party at China Grove First Baptist Church from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, April 27.

Once registered, each participant will receive a hand stamp to allow them to participate in all the activities.

There will a be bounce house and slide, beanbag games, face painting, ballon animals and a petting zoo with animals from Lazy Five Ranch.

Cotton candy, popcorn, funnel cakes and drinks are free and hotdogs will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.

Grace United Methodist Church, 846 Faith Road, will host a fundraiser for the church from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

The event will feature food, baked goods and live music by Grace4U.

New minister of music at Calvary

The Rev. David Hutchins has been called to serve as Minister of Music at Calvary Baptist Church.

Hutchins, a graduate of Gardner-Webb University, attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

He has served as minister of music and worship leader of churches in Shelby, Lenoir and Hickory.

Hutchins’ background includes youth work and developing multiple choirs for children, youth, in addition to adults.

He lives in Salisbury with his wife, Jeannie, and son, Taylor.

His first Sunday was April 7.

Calvary Baptist is located on East Ridge Road just beyond Ellis crossroads, Rick Cockerham, pastor.
