KANNAPOLIS — Police are looking for a man who they say grabbed and tried to kidnap a woman in a Food Lion parking lot in Kannapolis.

In a press release sent Friday afternoon, the Kannapolis Police Department said it is seeking information about an attempted kidnapping and assault that occurred Wednesday in the parking lot of the store at 2825 N. Cannon Blvd.

The suspect is described as a white male around 65 years of age and about 6 feet tall with white hair. He was wearing a black suit and possibly driving a gold-colored Buick with duct tape on the passenger side mirror.

The victim, an employee of Food Lion whose name has not been released, reported that she walked out of the business to help an elderly man carry groceries to his vehicle.

The victim reported that once she got to the suspect’s vehicle, he grabbed her and attempted to force her inside his vehicle. The victim was able to pull away from the suspect and went back into the business. The suspect then left the area.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the Cabarrus Area Crime Stoppers at 704-932-7463.
