Two fugitives wanted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office were captured by agencies in Kansas and in another county. One of the suspects is believed to have been involved in an undercover operation more than a decade ago.

Tommy Mack Small Jr., 33, was arrested in Randolph County Wednesday morning. Small has been on the sheriff’s most wanted list since March for charges of breaking and entering and larceny stemming from a December 2012 incident.

Patrick Kim Valentine, 42, was arrested in Kansas and returned to Rowan County on charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, sale and deliver cocaine, and conspiracy to sell cocaine. Authorities say Valentine was one of several individuals involved in a street-level crack cocaine operation in the Foster Road area of Woodleaf in 1999 and 2000. Valentine is the last person charged at the conclusion of an undercover operation supervised by then-Sgt. Kevin Auten, now the sheriff. Valentine remains in the Rowan County jail under a $50,000 secured bond. He has been convicted of numerous drug possession charges, assault and driving infractions.
