Also at Tuesday’s City Council meeting:
• The public hearing is set for May 7 on the proposed Salisbury Historic Preservation Master Plan, which is available at www.salisburyplan.ning.com .
The plan recommends streamlining the administration process, updating design guidelines, overhauling the preservation webpage, more education for owners, better marketing for historic properties and more.
• Council approved a carnival at the J.C. Price Legion Post, 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road, for its annual Memorial Week Celebration. All alcohol must remain inside, and 11 police officers must be on duty at all times.
• Council approved a right-of-entry agreement for the N.C. Department of Transportation to reconstruct portions of Southmark and Long Meadow drives. There is no cost to the city.
• Dr. Richard Miller, chairman of the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education, asked City Council members and Salisbury residents to complete a survey by May 20 about the search for a new schools superintendent. The survey is available at www.rss.k12.nc.us .
