An East Spencer woman received minor injuries this morning after her motorcycle slid under a stopped school bus in the 100 block of 11th Street. The incident occurred at 6:50 a.m.
Sheila Susong, 46, was riding her Yamaha motorcycle on 11th Street, near North Main and Richard streets, heading in the opposite direction of the school bus. When the school bus stopped, the motorcycle, which was behind a Mustang, was unable to stop in time. The driver of the Mustang was able to stop. The motorcycle fishtailed, slid past the Mustang and underneath the bus.
Salisbury Police Officer M.P. Benjamin said Susong held onto the bike as it slid underneath the bus and received injuries that were not life threatening to her wrist, knees and chest area. She was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center. She was wearing a helmet, the officer said. Hospital officials say she is in good condition. No charges will be filed. None of the students on the bus were injured.
