Girl, 9, injured in Sunday afternoon wreck, dies

CHINA GROVE — The N.C. Highway Patrol confirmed this morning a 9-year-old girl, injured in a Sunday afternoon wreck that killed her mother, also has died.
The girl was identifed as Hannah Tice. According to a highway patrol log, Tice died at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday. After the wreck, she had been flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Reports said the girl was sitting behind her mother, 45-year-old Terri Myers McPherson, who was driving. McPherson was traveling east on N.C. 152 about 3 p.m. Sunday when her Plymouth crossed the center line near the intersection with N.C. 153 and struck a Chevrolet pickup head on.
McPherson died at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the pickup were injured and treated at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast in Concord.
Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. They were identified as Jonathan P. Harty, 45, of Canaan, N.Y., and Joel P. Stewart, 45, of East Chatham, N.Y.
